Kerry is the Director of the South East Wales Trials Unit, which builds on work that she had previously been undertaking with colleagues to increase the number and quality of trials conducted in Wales.  It is funded by WORD as part of CRC Cymru, for which Kerry sits on the Operational Steering Group of the Coordinating Centre, and is the Chair of the Portfolio Group.

Kerry joined the Department of Primary Care & Public Health, based within the School of Medicine, Cardiff University in 1997 from the Department of Medical Computing and Statistics, University of Wales College of Medicine, and became a Senior Lecturer in Statistics in 2002. Promotion was later achieved to Reader in Statistics in 2007.

She is now a Professor in Statistics for the Department and in January 2010, she accepted the additional role of Deputy Head of the Department. She has been and is currently involved with a wide range of research projects (including collaborations across the School and with the Universities of Bangor, Glamorgan, Southampton, Swansea, Leeds, York and Bristol).

She is also currently collaborating with countries and institutions across the USA and  Europe which include, GRACE – an €11.5 million European Commission-funded, 6th framework programme.

Her main research interests are in randomised trials, outcome measure development and method comparisons. She is also a reviewer for the British Medical Journal, British Journal of General Practice and British Journal of Health Psychology as well as the MRC and the HTA.
